Are You Concerned?

The Hospital plans to nearly triple in size in a residential neighborhood. Results:

- Majority of Seattle Region's hospital beds for kids will be concentrated in a bottlenecked area of NE Seattle. 600 beds here.

Impacts:

- 42,000 daily car trips to hospital forecast by standard traffic models.
- Loss of 136 moderately priced, multifamily housing units, 21% of the total in Laurelhurst/Sandpoint.

We support an expansion of first-class care throughout Children's state-wide service area (including Laurelhurst) while discouraging excessive concentration of services at a single, congested site.
